I'm going to teach you how to make this spooky Eyeball Pillow just in time for Halloween by just using your Silhouette Cameo 4.

The new Silhouette Cameo 4 can cut felt amazingly with the rotary blade. You won't need a stabilizer on the back and you can cut fine wool felt with precision. I like using wool felt to cut because it's not as fuzzy and my mat will last longer.
Supplies needed for your Eyeball Pillow
- Sewable Heat N' Bond
- Coordinating Thread
- 1/2 Yard Ivory Felt
- 8″ Black Felt
- 8″ Green Felt
- Texas Orange Vinyl Heat Transfer
- Sewing Machine
- Hand Rotary Cutter
- Sewing Clips
- Silhouette Shape #48408
How to create your project in Silhouette Studio
Begin by downloading the Silhouette Shape #48408. This is an eyeball box but I'll show you how easy it is to make it into a pillow.
First, select the shape and ungroup, and then you're going to delete the lid, the base, and one of the small circles. All you should have now is the iris, veins, and circles. I like to separate my shapes and fill them with color so I can visually see what it will look like.
Color the veins in red, the iris green, the pupil black, the highlight white, and the other two larger circles white as well. You'll want to select all the shapes and resize the larger circles to be 11.5″. This way your shape will still be cohesive and everything will match up when we go to cut it out of the different materials.

How to cut felt with the Silhouette Cameo
- Prepare your Felt
Prepare by cutting your felt into 12″x12″ squares to fit onto your Cameo mat. If you're using interfacing, apply that now before you cut your shape. Do not peel the backing paper off just yet.
If you're not, be prepared to have a lot of fuzz on your mat. Using Wool Felt is a good way to avoid this. - Place Felt on the Mat
Place your mat on to a standard grip mat and use a brayer to press down. If you're using interfacing, place that side down on your mat.
- Insert your Rotary Blade
Insert the Silhouette Rotary Blade into carriage 2 and lock.
- Edit in Silhouette Studio
Select your shape in the Send Window and on Tool 1, select No Cut. Scroll down to Tool 2 and select the Felt, Acrylic setting and select cut. Your shape will now be outlined in blue rather than red and it will show you all the turns you rotary blade will make.
- Load your Felt
Load your mat with the felt into your Silhouette Cameo 4 and then press send in Silhouette Studio. Wait until your cut is complete and then unload.
- Remove Felt from your Mat
Once your felt is cut, remove your shape from the mat. Some small fragments of felt can still be attached in small corners and cut so just use some handheld scissors to cut those carefully and by not pulling.
If you've used interfacing, go ahead and remove the backing at this point.
You're going to want to place interfacing on the following pieces of felt:
- Green Iris
- Black Pupil
- White Highlight
How to assemble your eyeball pillow
Only remove the interfacing on the white and green pieces now. Iron your green felt first to the black and then iron the white piece in the center. Now you can remove that backing off the black circle.
Use the coordinating thread and the appliqué stitch to around the green felt to the black circle. Then you'll use the same stitch and appliqué the white highlight over the top.
Cut your veins using this Texas Orange color of Heat Vinyl Transfer and then adhere it to one of the larger white circles in the center. After that has been adhered to and you removed your carrier sheet, iron the black circle on to the middle of the veins. Use some black thread and go around the circle in the same applique stitch and now you can start assembling your pillow.
How to sew a Circular PIllow
Use the two larger circles and then attach the sides of the pillow to it. These two squares will not have any interfacing on them. Using your hand rotary tool, cut 3 12″ strips and sew them together end-to-end.
Use your sewing clips and attach the strip all around the perimeter of one of the circles. You may have to adjust your strip but it shouldn't be by much. Sew with right sides together all the way around using a 1/4″ seam.
Then do the same with the eyeball portion of the pillow and leave a 4″ opening. You'll turn your pillow inside out and then stuff it with some pillow stuffing. Be sure to separate and fluff the stuffing as you insert it into your pillow.
Once your pillow is stuffed to your liking, use a hidden stitch to close up your pillow. Place the pillow between both of your hands and rub it around to help flatten the pillow and get it to the right shape.
That's it! This eyeball pillow is a lot easier to make because of my Cameo 4. The rotary blade can cut intricate shapes for me so that I can get the desired effect cause I'm not about to hand-cut every little triangle to create the same effect for the eyeball.
