I'm so excited to be showing you this custom wrapping paper I made using the stamps that I made with my Cricut. Just add a fun gift tag to your present and you'll never go back to store-bought wrapping paper again…maybe just a few times you'll give in. 😉
So I bought two different kinds of stamp material to try and cut with my Cricut Maker. I bought this 2.3mm thick rubber stamp material and I also bought the Brother Scan-N-Cut stamp sheets. I wanted to test it out on my Cricut Maker using my Knife Blade and the Deep Cut Blade that is available on the Cricut Explore and Cricut Maker.
Supplies I used
- Cricut Maker
- Cricut Knife Blade
- Rubber Material
- Cricut Explore
- Deep Cut Blade
- Brother Scan-N-Cut Stamp Sheets
- White Wrapping Paper
- Stamp Pads in colors of your choice
- Design Space File for car stamps and car card
With the thicker orange rubber material, I could only use my Cricut Maker and the Knife Blade to make these custom stamps. The material is just too thick and you need enough force that the Cricut Maker gives you so that you can cut that material. I made two different stamps, one that was very intricate and one that was simple. I used the setting of 6 oz. Tooling Leather and I would recommend 14-16 passes to get a crisp cut.
The only problem that I found with this is that I'd have to buy more material to have it adhere to a wooden block to make the stamp actually useful. It is something called stamp cling material or something similar. Not too sure and I'm not going to worry about it at this time but if I was going to make a stamp that I wanted to keep forever, I would invest in that material.
I cut the Brother Scan-N-Cut stamp sheets with my Cricut Maker using the Knife Blade and the Deep Cut Blade. They recommend leaving one of the protective sheets on while cutting but I found that this would get in the way of my blade.
I used the2-3 oz. Tooling Leather setting with both the Knife Blade and Deep Cut Blade to cut this stamp using my Cricut. The Knife Blade recommended 4 passes but I stopped it after two. I should have allowed it to do the four because in the corners it was still stuck and didn't make a crisp stamp like I would have wanted it.
When I cut the stamp material with the Deep Cut Blade, I used the same 2-3 oz. Tooling Leather setting. If you're using the Cricut Explore, use your custom selection on your Smart Dial. It passed 3 times and was just what I needed.
Just some things I recommend when it comes to cutting stamps with your Cricut.
- If you're going to cut the orange stamp material, you have to use a Knife Blade with your Cricut Maker.
- If you cut the orange stamp material, also cut some stamp cling foam and then you can adhere them to your acrylic blocks.
- You can use the Deep Cut Blade to cut clear stamp material and adhere it to your acrylic stamps.
- Remove the plastic lining on both sides of the clear stamp material to get a crisp cut.
- Use water-based ink for the stamps to make them stay cleaner, longer.
To make the custom wrapping paper, just cut the size you need and stamp away. Allow the ink to dry before you wrap it up. I used colorful stamp pad colors for the background cars and then used some black ink for the outline.

Thank you. The orange material is like traditional stamp material but you have to add the adhesive pad to it to be able to use it. The brother brand is like the clear cling that you adhere to the acrylic blocks but it’s very thin. I’d prefer the orange but you have to pay more money for the foam so I just use the brother but the ink gets all over my block.
