The BEST Chocolate Chip Cookies EVER!

February 16, 2018

Okay, I know that this is a huge promise that not too many deliver on but seriously, I’ve been told, and I know, that these are some of the best of the best. This chocolate chip cookie recipe is one that my Grandma has been using for years and I guess I should ask her where she got it from.
These are chewy on the first, second, third, fourth, okay you get it, day. The trick is obviously to keep them in Ziploc bag. If you like a crispy cookie, these can be your thing too. Just cook for 1-2 minutes longer and don’t store it in the bag the first day. They don’t get overly dry, and they are just heaven! Customize the ingredients to your liking.
Combine your Crisco and sugars in a mixing bowl and cream together until it is fluffy. This to me is the all-important step. If this step isn’t right then the cookies will be a little weird. FYI, that is a cookie term. If you like the addition of walnuts or any kind of nut to your cookie, add it. I think that’s what makes this recipe so great. You can add anything to these chocolate chip cookies and they’ll be absolutely delicious.
I line my cookie sheets with my Silpat and scoop out the dough with my ice cream scoop. These don’t spread too far because of the shortening so a lot can fit on a sheet tray. Bake at 350 for 9 minutes, a little longer or shorter if you desire.
When you remove them from the oven, let them cool on the tray for 2 minutes and then transfer them to a cooling rack. You can thank me later!

Cherry Chocolate Bundt Cake with Cherry Cream Cheese Frosting

November 13, 2016

This Cherry Chocolate Bundt Cake is the perfect dessert to take to a potluck or just to enjoy all to your lonesome self 😉the most moist chocolate cake you will ever have in your life. This post contains affiliate links. Thank you for your support.

For the holidays I like to have fun and festive flavors. Cherries are always big in the fall and winter months so I decided to make a Cherry Chocolate Bundt Cake and complement it with some Cherry Cream Cheese frosting. The cake is out of this world moist and this recipe will absolutely be made for future family gatherings.the most moist chocolate cake you will ever have in your life.

Supplies –

Just dump all the cake ingredients into a mixing bowl except the cherries and flour. Mix it on low for 30 seconds and then crank it up to medium for two minutes until everything is combined. Chop up those Cherry Man cherries and add them into a separate bowl with the tablespoon of flour. Coating the cherries in the flour will ensure that none of your cherries stay at the top of your bundt cake. This method will give you a good variation of where your cherries will end up. Once your cake is mixed, fold in the cherries with a rubber spatula.the most moist chocolate cake you will ever have in your life. Preheat your oven to 350° F and grease your bundt cake pan well. Pour the mixture and smooth the top so that you have an even rise. Bake for 50-60 min. until your cake bounces back to the touch or you can use the non-fail toothpick method. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes and then turn it onto a cooling rack and cool for at least an hour.the most moist chocolate cake you will ever have in your life. While the cake is cooling, you can make your Cherry Cream Cheese frosting. In the pictures you’ll notice there is a lot of frosting. I doubled this recipe and it was WAY too much so just stick to these measurements and you won’t have too much frosting.

Put the cold cream cheese, salt and the slightly softened butter into your mixer with the whisk attachment. Cream it together for about 2 min on medium speed. Add in one cup of sugar at a time until it’s mostly incorporated. Turn the mixer up to medium-high speed and mix for a good 3-5 minutes until everything is fluffy. Fold in the chopped cherries if you’d like those too.the most moist chocolate cake you will ever have in your life. I used a ziplock bag and cut the tip off to do some piping, it’s a mess, LOL – but it gets the job done and it actually tastes fabulous.

Create a simple football party for kids and adults alike. Perfect for a Superbowl Party My Siaki looooves Football. ‘Mr. Touchdown’ had an awesome season and he soon discovered O’dell Beckhams sweet catch from the Super Bowl a few years ago. They even have a term that if you catch something that looks like it took a difficult stretch, you O’delled it. For his 8th birthday we threw him a New York Giants football party as a bit of a nod to his new found O’dell obsession.  Create a simple football party for kids and adults alike. A Fun Unicorn Party

June 23, 2016

unicorn party ideas grahicAre you looking for some fun unicorn party ideas? Look no further. Leila turned 6 recently and we wanted to have a small party for her and some girlfriends. We went to our favorite bakery and just had them make us a unicorn cake using a lot they had on hand.

I have had sculptured cakes in the past but I learned that kids don’t need that. It’s mainly for pictures that the parents want it. It can be worth it and I have seen awesome cakes made but that money can be spent elsewhere for me.unicorn party ideas for kidsI used my Cricut to cut these adorable Unicorns out of Iron-On vinyl. You can get the Cricut Design Space file here. We used some fabric markers to color in the lines and so the girls each had their own personalized shirt to take home. I got this idea from Lindsay at Artsy Fartsy Mama and I knew I had to recreate it. Unicorn party favors using CricutI created the tags for the gift bags by using a glue pen and some foil from ??? I had Leila write the first letter of each girls names and we placed the foil over the glue once it was dry. We then rubbed with all our might and it transferred just the way we had written. I tied it with some pink tulle and they were set with their gift bags to bring home all their crafts. Unicorn party favor ideasThe gift bags, plates and napkins are all Meri Meri and I found them at Homegoods and TJ MAXX at a great price. I grabbed some bubble wands from Walmart because they came in rainbow colors. I got all the balloons from an Etsy shop here. There were also some fun things I got here that included the mini Unicorns cabochons and I glued them to ring banks so they could be worn later. I also used string and keychain holders and the girls used beads to make their own. Unicorn party decorationsUnicorn birthday cake ideasIf there is one thing I know about my daughter is that she loves to create and craft. She’s got a great eye for detail and I can tell she’s going to be just like me but I know even better. She just loves to have the attention and the kids think I put a lot of work and effort into their parties but for me the hardest part is figuring out which stuff I want to buy online. Unicorn party ideas

The Easiest, Yummiest Holiday Neighbor Gift

December 9, 2015

Create these simple and homemade neighbor gifts for ChristmasWhat can I say about my neighbors? They have all been so incredible to us, the ones we know. I don’t have a very outgoing personality so I’m often intimidated to talk to new people. However, with our kids being in school together and now in sports together, I’ve really been blessed to have some awesome and helpful neighbors (that I now know).

I wanted to do something amazing for them but since I’ve got a baby in the hospital, a kindergartner, and two more older boys – my life has been pretty chaotic lately. I remember I saw some chocolate dipped marshmallows years ago and remembered how awesome they looked, so I went to Orson Gygi, grabbed some sucker sticks and some chocolate and got right to work. Create these simple and homemade neighbor gifts for ChristmasYou begin by skewering 3 larger marshmallows on 8″ sucker sticks. Next, it can be a little tricky tempering your chocolate so read this post here for an easy microwave version. Make sure you have your toppings ready too. Here I have flaked coconut that I toasted in a 350• oven for 6 minutes and I also used (and already ate) some Butterfinger Baking Bits. For the coconut, I used white chocolate; and for the Butterfingers, I used milk chocolate.

Line a tray with some parchment and get going! Dip your marshmallows into the chocolate making sure you get a good enough coating around all the sides of the marshmallow. You’ll then roll it in your topping mixture.

It can be messy and some of the chocolate will try to come out but save those extra bits for later, you’ll thank me. Now just place them on your parchment and allow them to get hard. Place them in a clear cellophane bag and tie with a fun ribbon. Think about adding these same toppings to caramel apples, some of the best I’ve tasted!Create these simple and homemade neighbor gifts for ChristmasIt doesn’t get any easier than skewering and dipping. Friends will be thankful that you took the time to do something homemade for them yet they won’t care how simple it is – its solely the thought that counts. 5 Ways to Make Your Travel Less Stressful

March 31, 2015

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #WhenImHungry #CollectiveBias

5 Must HavesI am programmed to be high stressed. I don’t know what it is but I can’t take it easy and it’s not an automatic thing for me and my family suffers. I’ve learned throughout the years to travel near and far with certain essentials (for me) that make my life a little easier and I wanted to share with you these 5 tricks on how I make travel less stressful for me.

  • A Brush – Yes. Brushing your hair is something you probably shouldn’t have left the house without doing but with three kids of my own, it doesn’t get done no matter how many times I’ve asked…yelled, really. Usually the detangling ones are the best and sometimes the more money you spend, it isn’t always the better.
  • Lipstick and Mascara – again, things you shouldn’t have left the house without doing but I find myself doing it all the time. With my ginger hair, my eyelashes are non-existent and really making myself look just a little bit put together, I feel a little better.
  • A change of clothing for everyone – I am not the best example of this but I have many times found myself either wishing or stopping at an actual store buying clothing or underwear. I’d suggest just an overnight bag in the back or trunk with also a plastic bag of sorts to keep the soiled laundry in while it’s waiting to be cleaned. If it’s something that it pretty repulsive (mom’s ;))…toss it. Your dignity is worth more than a $1 saved.
  • Cash – I’ve talked before about how my husband can be a bit of a stickler and sometimes I do appreciate it. I have my sneaky ways of spending money but cash has really become an essential way to learn how to manage money for me. You are more conscious when you are spending cash rather than using a card. You can actually see your funds dwindling away. If you are going to use a card, I would most definitely recommend you take your check register with you so that you can balance your account to also see those dollars dwindling.
  • Chocolate – Last but most definitely not least is some chocolate. I’m not talking any old stuff though…the good stuff, SNICKERS® Almond. Have you found that you’ll buy the less expensive chocolate thinking it’ll satisfy your cravings and it never does. It all goes hand in hand with giving in to your indulgences. SNICKERS® is my chocolate indulgence and I love their new campaign slogans, “You’re not you when you’re hungry”. I most definitely get the most peace when I can find a moment away to myself and relaxing and pretty much chocolate is that sense of relief for me. I usually always grab them from Walmart because I can get the best price there, too.

Travel less stressfulI know for myself, motherhood has been a learning experience and I have to take it day by day. In life, nobody is perfect and I hope that no one makes you feel that you have to compare your weaknesses to their strengths. The world of the internet can make you feel like you don’t have it together but if you take it one day at a time, things all work out.

Snickers Almond

Also regarding SNICKERS®, they are having an awesome contest where you can submit a photo or a .gif about how you’re not yourself – I told you this campaign is awesome! See the details below cause I know I’ll be doing it myself cause I think it’s so fun and they are always some of my favorite commercials. Make these mouthwatering Chocolate Covered Cherry Breakfast Muffins using the new Dove Fruits, recipe only on frenchiewraps.comSo when I first thought about making this recipe, I thought about making them from scratch. You can most definitely find a quick bread recipe and add in the DOVE® Fruit and create them that way but I need things easy in my life lately. I ran to Walmart and grabbed all three flavors and a box mix of blueberry muffins, any brand will do.

Dove

Make these mouthwatering Chocolate Covered Cherry Breakfast Muffins using the new Dove Fruits, recipe only on frenchiewraps.comMix everything according to package directions omitting the blueberries that they include and instead chop up some of the chocolate covered Whole Cherries by DOVE® Fruit. I like using these rather than the included ‘fruit’ because DOVE® Fruit is actual fruit covered in Dove’s delicious chocolate rather than those tiny micro ‘blueberries’.

Cute Kids Matchstick Valentines and a FREE Printable!!

January 14, 2015

Pretzel Stick Valentines for kids

Well, I hope since I’ve been gone for a bit, you can at least forgive me with this super cute Valentine’s Day project! I know that these lyrics can be interpreted by your favorite artist but I am simply thinking of Lauryn Hill when I read these. I grew up on her Miseducation album and it by far will not be compared to a lot of albums. I’ve seen the miniature matches done a few other places but I wanted to do some larger pretzels basically because my kids devour pretzels. These are so easy and so inexpensive. You can have your kids dipping along while your minding your own business and it’ll be even cuter cause it’ll have their touch.

Pretzels and Chocolate ValentineI started by running to the grocery store and grabbing some Snyder’s pretzel rods, some small pretzel sticks and some red Wilton Candy Melts. I did use my Cricut Explore to make some matchboxes about 3″ long but it really isn’t necessary. If you’re looking for the shape, it’s on the Tags, Bags, Boxes & More 2 Cartridge.

Red ChocolateI started by melting my Candy Melts. I started in 30 second intervals. I used about 15 melts at the beginning. My tempering method is pretty fool-proof – you start with 30 seconds, stir (it will barely have any melt at this point); 30 seconds again, stir (more melted but not completely); 30 seconds again, stir (all your pieces will have mostly have all melted, you may have a few nuggets of the melts that have not completely melted through and that’s ok). You’ll now add a small handful of the melts (7-10) and stir. The residual heat will melt them completely and give your melts a good glossy look and it won’t be cloudy.
**This method also works well for real chocolate

Pretzel Valentine

This will be the best time to start dipping your pretzels. Lay out a sheet of parchment or wax paper and dip the tip ever so slightly and kind of shake off the excess softly so that you won’t have a pool of extra melts at the tip like the third one up from the bottom of the picture ;). Just keep going until all your pretzels are dipped. If your candy melts start to get too stiff, just put them in the microwave for another 20 seconds.

Fire Valentine

I made these cute printables to go along with your matches that you can give to your hot stuff, they are just at the bottom of the post! For obvious reasons, you’ll want to wrap them up in a plastic gift bag if they are not in your immediate family! I hope that you love these, it took a lot of love and I think they’re kind of perfect.

Pretzel MatchThank you! XOXO, Lindsay
