Frenchie bedroom inspirtaionWhat can I say about my master bedroom other than that it’s a hot mess. My husband and I have been talking about redecorating it for 2 years now and it’s not moved in a single direction. I’m getting antsy and I’m starting to get frustrated. I now know that what look I want and I’ve known for a while so I’m going to start doing things on my own and hopefully he’ll get the clue I’m moving on without him.

One place that I don’t want to spend a ton of money on but I know it’ll be worth the most investment is the flooring. I knew when we were building this house that there were a few things that I wanted to spend the money to upgrade with the builder because I knew we could pretty much do the rest ourselves. One of those was flooring. I wish I spent more money on the padding and really upgrading to the finest of the finest.

We don’t have terrible carpet but it’s only been 8 years and we’re already needing to upgrade the heavier traffic areas.

I just thought I had done enough research on my own but I didn’t check with the experts and that’s where I went wrong. I really should have taken the time to talk to more people and one of the experts I had a chance to talk to recently were some people at Carpet One. Right now is a great time to buy because they are having an awesome #DDIY sale (Don’t Do It Yourself). You can check out some more options they are offering on the above link but some things I don’t want to tackle, and that’s flooring. I stopped by their store recently and they were able to give me a free estimate. I was so pleased with their customer service and the products they were able to offer to me. Another great service they offer is a free in home estimate. They’ll come to your home and do the measurements and bring you all the samples so you won’t even need to go into the store yourself.

I feel comfortable with a store like Carpet One because they are all individual owned and operated and my mom has had a window covering store for 20 years that is also a franchise business. They really stand behind everything and they can really get some great products and have good connections because of their name. The other great thing is that if you’re not satisfied, they’ll replace it for free!

Of the few things that I can do on my own, the things I know I can’t do well is build large pieces of furniture. I leave that to the pros. That’s why I purchased a bed, similar to the one in the picture. I surprised my husband with it, lol.  How do you just buy something like that in secret? How can you just hide something like that?

Check out this YouTube channel full of #DDIY fun. I do hope that I can style my room as close to the board above and I’ll keep you update on how that comes along.

Bathroom Remodel Pt. 1

July 29, 2014

Bathroom Remodel at frenchiewraps.com

My kids’ bathroom has been needing an update since we’ve moved in here almost 8 years ago. The walls have always been white, the hardware has been missing for about 5 years now and I just can’t find a shower curtain that I love to go with these white walls.

It’s one of those rooms you just can’t figure out. I entered a giveaway on Home by Heidi a while ago as she was wallpapering her closet. I was so excited when I won because there is some chic wallpaper these days. I was given $150 to choose from whatever Wallpaper Warehouse carried. Unfortunately on their site I couldn’t find what I wanted but I knew a trick. I knew I could go to the manufacturer’s website and find what they had and WW could order it in for me. Perfection! I found a lot of great choices and if you follow me on Instagram, you would’ve seen that I narrowed it down to a few choices.

I really loved all of these. I knew for choice 2 it really would have brought the room dark and I could bring that in with the linens. With choice 3, I knew I could do that with some vinyl. To me, it was really down to 1&4. I love them both but I couldn’t get over that I think that 4 kind of looks like Subway sandwich shops. I do think it’s much more chic, I just couldn’t do it. I think when we move though, I’ll take the leap.

I went with choice 1, the Euro scene. It has tiny pops of color that I just really love. It’s got a bit of red, beige and fuchsia. It’s not a true white, it’s more ivory. I do like a little color in my home but not too much. I’m learning to bring it back a notch. When I was 14 my mom let me remodel my room in the bottom corner of the house, I chose 4 colors for the walls – pink, yellow, green and purple. It’s embarrassing and I don’t want to talk about it. I did end up toning it down with over 800 N’SYNC pictures. Ahhhh, TMI!

Back to the bathroom, I’ve bought a few towels in grey, pink and mustard. The shower curtain is black and white stripe and I’m going to add some more detail in on the curtain. It’s definitely not a finished product and so I hope that you’ll join me on this fun little adventure of my bathroom beautification! Stay tune for my next post where I’ll show off these awesome, high quality accessories by Moen. I can’t recommend them enough!

Wallternatives, an excellent alternative

June 2, 2014

Wallpaper can be intimidating. Use these Wallternatives to update your look without the commitment. This is a sponsored post, all opinions are my own. Make your little girls dream come true without the commitment of wallpaper. Use Wallternatives removable wallpaperThis post also contains affiliate links. Thank you for your support.

I think wallpaper is scary. I’m about to embark on that adventure in my bathroom but let’s just say it took MONTHS to choose the pattern and it’s sitting in my garage cause I’m still nervous to put it up. I’m happy with what I chose and can’t wait to see it but wallpaper, in general, is such a hassle. That’s why I’m so glad that companies like Wallternatives exist. It gives you the option to try things out and when you’re done with it, you peel it off. So easy.

Wallternatives Frenchie 4

While I was at SNAP! in April, I had the chance to meet them and to try some of Royal Design Studios stencils and their new line of decals. That’s where Wallternatives comes in. They’ve got these awesome fabric decals that you can reuse endless amounts of times and they always remain sticky. I don’t know how many times I removed mine cause it wasn’t straight and it just went right back on.

Wallternatives Frenchie 6I chose to use the Wood Block Alphabet Letter Tiles in pink/medium for Leila’s room. It came in 2 sheets, rolled up and ready to use. That’s what I like! I started with the Z and ended in the middle of my wall…not smart…don’t do what I did. The good thing is, when I have more time and when I’m up for it, I can always come back and change it, but for now I’m going to leave it. I think I may put a picture of some type on that side and tie it all together.

Her room has always been a mystery to me. I’m not even sure if I like it now. Do you like that I don’t even have bedding for her?? This room has always gotten the tail end of everything. After the bathrooms are done and the master bedroom is done, this is the room I’m going to complete but I’m notorious for starting things and not finishing. I’ve got to end that!

Wallternatives Frenchie 5This is how her room started, a boring pale pink. I don’t even know the color, it was on clearance at Smith’s Marketplace. I’m shuddering in embarrassment right now! Her “bookcase” and light are from Ikea and the sign I made from Poppy Seed Projects.

Wallternatives Frenchie 3I was expecting the corners to be tricky but they were easy as pie. I just placed it where I needed it on the one side of the wall and rubbed my hand across the decal and it smoothed across the indent of the corner. Install took me less than an hour for the whole thing from taking it out of the box to throwing away the trash. I love the look that it gives the room and it was the easiest thing I’ve done in a long time…and I finished!!

Wallternatives FrenchieNot only does Wallternatives have WallPrints™ Fabric Decals, they also have ChalkTalk™ Chalkboard Art, Designer Vinyl Decals and coming soon they’ll have WallAppeal™ removable wallpaper and EtchLook™ Decals to look like etched glass. Check out their site, it’s got some great some great stuff on it.
