My husband is a HUGE fan of the New England Patriots so it has of course, passed down the line to our children. I decided that for the Super Bowl, I'd make them some of their very own New England Patriots T-Shirts using my favorite iron-on heat transfer vinyl from Expressions Vinyl. They've also been so generous to offer a $50 gift card to one of you!!
Of course I had to make a #deflategate shirt in honor of all the scandal going on this season. I personally think it's great and I get a rise out of teasing my husband.
To start, I used the 12×24″ siser easyweed Iron-On Heat Transfer Vinyl in Red and Royal Blue. I just searched online to find the Patriots logo in .svg format. I was able to find one here. I uploaded it into my Cricut Design Space and it's seriously magic! It separated all the layers to just what I needed.
I sized the logo to the size which I felt would look best on each of the shirts. For the two youngest I used the same size and for my oldest and husbands, I also used the same size. I used the Cricut font cartridge, Extreme Fonts , to type Brady and the number 12 for the backs. Now you'll want to reverse your image before you cut. You can do that in the actual window or in the mat preview window but make sure you click on every mat if you do it then. When you're cutting, place it on your mat the shiny side down and use the iron-on setting. Peel away any part that you do not want. Be very careful because any part you peel off, you can't stick back on.
Now for the application – I use a dry iron on med/hi heat and I use continuous motion. Sometimes when I'm ironing, it sticks and it will shift my design creating a fold. So for me, I use the upper 1/3 part of the iron and use small circles. That way I know it'll stick and it will not get too hot. I can tell it has stuck because you can see some small air bubbles on the plastic. Gently peel up the plastic and set again with the full iron carefully. You are done-zo! Now go and enjoy that football game and be sure to enter the giveaway!
