Creating Christmas crackers is really easy and they can be customized for any occasion just like your birthday! Learn how to make this easy paper cracker box using your Cricut machine.
I'm joining Angie with The Country Chic Cottage to share with you this easy party cracker that you can make using your Cricut machine in under 15 minutes. Most of that time was just the cutting and assembling is easy and you don't need any adhesive.
Supplies for your Paper Cracker Box
- Cricut Maker or Cricut Explore
- Acetate Sheets
- Seam Binding Ribbon
- Giant Smarties
- Crinkle Paper
- Cricut Design Space file
Optional Supplies:
assembling your cracker box
Take your acetate and place it on your cutting mat. You'll use your custom setting on your dial if you're using the Explore models and just drop down to acetate in Cricut Design Space. If you have a Maker, you can just select the acetate from the supply list. For acetate, you'll just need the fine point blade so no extra special tools.
Remove your acetate from the mat and then you'll peel off the plastic lining so that it shows up shiny and not dull.
Remove all the diamond shape cuts and then you'll just place each tab into the slits to create a cylinder shape paper cracker.
creating the acetate tags
Now you have the tags. It was cut at the same time as your DIY paper crackers so you'll want to attach your vinyl onto your acetate.
Use the pink vinyl and cut it according to the automatic settings on your Cricut software. I like to add a small rectangle or square behind my image so that I can get a clean weed. If it's a small design, I cut a few more than I'll need just to make sure I don't have any mistakes.
Place your transfer tape over your image and use your scraper tool to help adhere it to the tape. Peel up the tape and then lay the image over your acetate tag and then remove the transfer tape leaving your vinyl on your acetate.
finishing your Cricut Cracker Box
Tie off one end of the cracker box then add tiny amounts of the crinkle paper and then a few smarties and alternate until your box is full.
Now you'll tie off the other end and before double knotting, add your tag and tie it on securely. That's it! That's the easiest paper cracker box you'll ever make in your life. If you want to see other party ideas that we've made with our Cricut, click on the link below.
