Supplies to make a Leather Bow
- Cricut Explore
- Faux Suede or Leather
- Transfer Tape
- Strong Grip Cricut Mat
- Bow Cricut Design Space File
- E6000 Glue
- French Barrette Clips
- Binding Clips
Line your faux suede or leather with your transfer tape. This will give something for the fabric to hold onto instead of leaving fuzz all over your mat and basically ruining it. This was a huge help and I'll never go back to sticking the fabric right on the strong grip mat again. When you choose the faux leather setting on your Smart Dial, it'll cut through the product twice. When your images are too close together, sometimes it will catch and pull the product. To avoid this, move your images further apart when you're previewing your mat. This will save the product in the long run and save a lot of headaches. Don't be afraid to use some scissors if you've got one knick in the leather. Begin with all your pieces laid out. You'll want to fold the longest piece so that the ends meet in the middle. Secure that with the E6000 glue and a binding clip. If you've made more than one bow, now is the time to assemble all the longer pieces.
Next, you'll take the back and place some E6000 glue in the middle and take your bow piece and adhere it to that, secure with a binding clip. Allow it to dry just a few minutes in between each step.
Next, place some E6000 on the barrette and lay the back piece to it. Take your small middle piece and apply glue to that. Fold it over the bow in the middle and around the back of the barrette. Secure that with a binding clip. I'd allow these to dry for a few hours before you stick them in their hair just so they don't get any glue on them.
Ta-da! You're done. It's so simple and it looks like you spent a fortune at a boutique for these simple bows.

How cute! I’ve never used my cricut to cut leather.
Lindsay says
It’s a lot easier when you line it. It’s now one of my most favorite throngs to cut. XX

Does the power tac not smell as bad as e6000?
Lindsay says
It didn’t have as strong as an odor of the E6000.

I can’t seem to find binding clips? Where did you get yours?
Lindsay says
I bought mine on Amazon. Or you can go to the local office supply store and buy mini binding clips.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I am pretty new to the bow world, and out of all of the tutorials I have watched no one suggests to space the cuts out a little so the machine doesn’t basically eat it! I have ruined a couple of things this week so I decided to research some blogs, thankful I came across yours!
Lindsay says
Spacing it out has helped me a lot. I love these little bows!

Hi, which knife you used in the Cricut?
Kind regards,
Gwendolyn
Lindsay says
For this bow I used the Deep Cut Blade. If you have a Maker, you can use that or the rotary blade or knife blade.
Gwendolyn says
Hi, thank you. I have a Cricut Explore. I will try now with a deep cut blade 👍
