The day High School ended was a glorious day for me, if only I had this shirt! Cricut or Silhouette wasn’t around yet so making your own shirts wasn’t very affordable but now it can easily be done in as little as 10 minutes. Grab this free Graduation SVG file to make your own today just in time for graduation.

If you’re using an Iron to adhere your HTV to a shirt, read these instructions here for all my tips and tricks.

If you’re using an EasyPress, read these instruction here to learn how to adhere your Iron On to your shirt.

If you’re unsure of what to buy or use, this comparison from Hey, Let’s Make Stuff gives you all the information you’ll ever need. I love my EasyPress but I also do not have space in my home for a Heat Press. Her comparison is definitely helpful in figuring out what you want to use when making T-Shirts and other items. If you only have an iron, it works great but there is a learning curve on how to make your HTV adhere better.

We’ve been busy making these adorable Summer SVG Files for you guys. We’ve always had great success in our holiday series of FREE SVG’s we offer you so we wanted to do an end-of-school/summer theme of SVG’s. Grab all the free files below.

Create a perfect handmade baby shower card for your next loved one’s life-changing event. Use your Cricut Maker to create this cute baby shaker card. I’ve tried a few times to make shaker cards using dies but I like to do it with my Cricut now that I’ve figured out how. Cutting acetate can be tricky using your Cricut but I’ve gotten great results using my Knife Blade and my Cricut Maker.

You will first begin by opening up your Cricut Design Space File and then you will send it to your Cricut Maker. The first canvas should be your Kraft Board which is the one that will use the Scoring Wheel and a Fine Point Black Marker.

After you’ve cut and drawn your shapes out of the white and the patterned cardstock, load your acetate into your Cricut. Use the Cricut Knife Blade to cut your acetate into the small square to go right behind the Hello Baby layer. Adhere your acetate using your Xyron Mega Runner.

Next, place the foam tape all around the edges of your small square and then go around the onesie to make a barrier. You’ll fill that barrier with your sequins and then lay your folded card on top so that you have it secured to each other.

That’s it! It’s so easy to make your own homemade baby shower card and it’s more fun when they’re for loved ones.

Using HTV on a shirt is very easy. After you have uploaded your SVG file into Design Space or you’ve uploaded the SVG file into the Silhouette software, you want to mirror your image before you cut.

Lay your HTV on the mat shiny side down. This carrier sheet will hold your entire image together for you. After you’ve cut, remove any unwanted HTV from the carrier sheet.

Prepare your toddler t-shirt for the HTV by preheating your fabric. This will remove the moisture from your fabric and allow the HTV to stick better and not lift.

Using a folded towel on a sturdy surface is perfect for pressing the HTV to your shirt. Do not use an ironing board. It is too bendy in the middle (that’s a term) and it doesn’t allow even heat to be distributed.

I, like many other mothers, enjoy making a birthday party better than ever. I don’t like to spend that much money buying custom things that will most likely never get used again. Creating this custom cake stand using my Cricut Maker was one of the most genius things my friend could have ever thought of. Make your own out of this world cake stand using your Cricut Maker. Cut all the pieces using your Cricut Knife Blade and then adhere the iridescent cardstock to it by using your Xyron Creative Station. #cricutmade #cricutmaker #diypartydecor #partydecorations #cakestand #outerspaceparty #spaceshipparty

Supplies for your DIY Cake Stand

When you’re making your own custom cake stand with the Cricut, you have to look at the dimensions of everything. Your cake, the width of the shape, your cut allowance on the material, and the thickness of the material.

Begin by pulling up the shape that you want to cut. Look for a shape that has a wide bottom and straight line for stability.

The top doesn’t have to be as wide because we’ll square it off to make a flat surface for the tray. To do that, move your object to the latitude and longitude of 0.

Click on the shapes on the left-hand side and add a square. Click on the lower left lock and then set your square to about 2” tall and an inch or two wider than your shape.

Select both the square and the shape and hit the slice function. If Design Space has the sliced feature grayed out, it means that you have more than the two layers selected. You will have to ungroup your main shape if it has more than one layer.

This will create a flat surface on the top of your shape and then you’ll duplicate it.

Measure the thickness of your material. Some will already be labeled for you on the box or use a ruler. Select the shape icon again and add another square to your canvas.

Click on the lock to unlock your square and size it so that it is wide enough that both pieces will interlock.

When using the chipboard and some My Minds Eye cardstock, I used the width of .1”. You want the height of your small line to be a smidgen over half.  This custom cake stand was 10” high so my squares were .1×5.3”. Duplicate that square. Make your own out of this world cake stand using your Cricut Maker. Cut all the pieces using your Cricut Knife Blade and then adhere the iridescent cardstock to it by using your Xyron Creative Station. #cricutmade #cricutmaker #diypartydecor #partydecorations #cakestand #outerspaceparty #spaceshipparty

The thickness of the Cricut Chipboard is 2mm or.08″

Now use one shape and have one square centered towards the bottom of the shape and the other square centered on the other shape on the upper portion. Use your slice function again like when we made our shape originally flat.

There are additional clouds on this cake stand because it would be pretty wobbly without it. Just adhere two to each portion of the base to create a squared up leg of the DIY cake stand.

Adhere your material to your Strong Grip Cricut by using some painters tape or masking tape. Just whatever you have around that will also peel easily off your material. Move your star wheels all the way to the right before you load your mat into your Cricut Maker.

After you’ve hit your load button, make sure your Knife Blade is in the Adaptive Tool System and hit Go!

This certain cut took me about 3 hours. This rocket ship cake stand does not have a bunch of weird angles, they’re all pretty straight. When you cut the cake plate area, that cut will maybe be 4 minutes because it is just a simple circle. Make your own out of this world cake stand using your Cricut Maker. Cut all the pieces using your Cricut Knife Blade and then adhere the iridescent cardstock to it by using your Xyron Creative Station. #cricutmade #cricutmaker #diypartydecor #partydecorations #cakestand #outerspaceparty #spaceshipparty

How so I glue Cricut Chipboard?

I’ve gone over this a few times and have learned that you cannot mix dry adhesive with a wet adhesive. I ran all of my cardstock through my Xyron Creative Station and then adhered it on top of my chipboard.

To adhere to the smaller peg pieces to the larger chipboard cake stand, use some hot glue and use it on the edges and then adhere the edges to the corners of the base.

My Knife Blade cut through my Cricut Maker!

Yes, this can happen. You need to pay attention to your cuts because some cuts may not need all the 20 passes. The Cricut Maker has had instances where it started cutting into the mat and then into the machine.

This is not normal but I also don’t know how Cricut will warranty the machine in those cases. Just watch your shape throughout the cut and even closer as the cut comes towards to the end.

Can you modify the Cricut Knife Blade settings?

No. Cricut Knife Blade material settings are not yet modifiable. This is because Cricut does a lot of research on the back end of the Makers materials and these are the settings they’ve used and tested.

I’ve never been able to edit my tools and select a Knife Blade for any of those because if Cricut doesn’t have it listed in the materials section, it probably didn’t work out for them and so they don’t want you ruining your machine. Make your own out of this world cake stand using your Cricut Maker. Cut all the pieces using your Cricut Knife Blade and then adhere the iridescent cardstock to it by using your Xyron Creative Station. #cricutmade #cricutmaker #diypartydecor #partydecorations #cakestand #outerspaceparty #spaceshippartyTo learn how to make your own wooden cake toppers using your Cricut, click here.

Making Mothers Day Gifts are always a fun thing to do but it can be hard to come up with ideas. I love that I can open up Cricut Design Space and I’ve got all the inspiration right there! Creating a Mothers Day Shadow Box can be as personalized as you want. Add some paper flowers to the backdrop or just some beautiful scrapbook paper.

My kids call my mom Nani and so when I saw this one shape that said MOM, I just used my contour tool and clicked on that word to remove it. I added in Nani using the Felix font in Cricut Design Space. I used some brushed metal vinyl and cut it on the Adhesive Foil setting and had it pass two times. It gave the perfect kiss cut to the vinyl and made it a dream to weed.Create the perfect Mothers Day gift for that special Grandma in your life. Weed your image and then apply some transfer tape over your vinyl design. Use your scraper tool to give it a gentle rub and then remove the white backing off of the vinyl.Create the perfect Mothers Day gift for that special Grandma in your life. Gently pull off the transfer tape and then remove the back off of the frame so you can add your background.Create the perfect Mothers Day gift for that special Grandma in your life. Learn how easy it is to make a Mother's Day Shadow Box using your Cricut and some rose gold vinyl. Apply vinyl to glassI used this Natalie Malan scrapbook paper available at JoAnn and it’s insanely beautiful. She makes the most perfect compositions and the colors are always on point. I used her fabric from Coats to make these cute American Girl jumpsuits and I love the detail.

Cut the scrapbook page to be 9×9″ so that it would fit perfectly in the shadow boxes available at Michaels Stores. I realize this a busy pattern and so it can be hard to see if it’s not in the right light but the pinks go so well with the rose gold vinyl. In person, you can see the shimmer of the metal vinyl and then the softness of the watercolor flowers and birds.Create the perfect Mothers Day gift for that special Grandma in your life. Dr. Seuss Party Invitation with Silhouette and Xyron

Dr. Seuss’ birthday is celebrated in American schools during February. My kids are having a Snacks With Seuss breakfast celebration and they’re dressing up all week almost like Red Ribbon Week. I wanted to make some Dr. Seuss party invitations to commemorate a wonderful author and one that had a unique art style.

I love Dr. Seuss’ art because he didn’t care if it looked perfect. Everyone had their own uniqueness and quirks and I think that is true in real life. If you use a Cricut for this card, you can download the SVG file available in the Silhouette Online Store for an extra $.50. I love Silhouette’s shapes and so this is a win-win for Cricut users.Celebrate Dr. Suess' birthday by making your own Dr. Seuss Invitaion and passing it off to those lucky guests. Give this card as a sentiment for a graduate or just to display the cute little fishbowl card. #drseuss #cricut #silhouettecameo #drseussbirthday #drseuss #partyinvitation #xyron

Supplies for your Dr. Seuss Card

How do I turn my Silhouette shape into a card?

You’re going to first have the fishbowl shape and you’re going to want to duplicate it. Take your shape and use the replicating tool in your Silhouette software and mirror the shape to the right. Nudge the shape over about .10″ and then weld the shapes together.

To add a score line on your card, draw a line down the center of the two shapes and then change the line style to be perforated. Attach the fishbowl shape and your score line together before you cut your card.

If you’re making a score line in Cricut Design Space, you’ll just create a single line and then choose to have it as a scoring line rather than a cut line. Again, attach the scoreline and then fishbowl shape together before you cut your card.Celebrate Dr. Suess' birthday by making your own Dr. Seuss Invitaion and passing it off to those lucky guests. Give this card as a sentiment for a graduate or just to display the cute little fishbowl card. #drseuss #cricut #silhouettecameo #drseussbirthday #drseuss #partyinvitation #ohtheplacesyoullgo After you’ve cut out all your shapes, you’re going to want to run all your small shapes through a Xyron Sticker Maker. You can use the 3″ Disposable Sticker Maker for all the tiny shapes and you’re not going to have your fingers all up in the adhesive. Or if you have the 1″ sticker maker, all you have to do is drop and then pull and your shapes will become a sticker. Celebrate Dr. Suess' birthday by making your own Dr. Seuss Invitaion and passing it off to those lucky guests. Give this card as a sentiment for a graduate or just to display the cute little fishbowl card. #drseuss #cricut #silhouettecameo #drseussbirthday #drseuss #partyinvitation #xyronstickermaker

If you want to have your Silhouette or Cricut write the words for you, you can skip all the tiny letters in the sticker maker.Celebrate Dr. Suess' birthday by making your own Dr. Seuss Invitaion and passing it off to those lucky guests. I learned a trick from my friend Charynn of Pineapple Paper Company. If you can’t find any napkins that match your decor, make them! These custom St Patricks Day napkins were a breeze to make using some Iron On Vinyl and my Silhouette Cameo. Make your own custom napkins using your Silhouette Cameo and some HTV. Supplies for your custom St Patricks Day napkins –

I have used Iron On Vinyl on everything from cardstock to girly paper napkins. It can be used for so much more than just fabric. I’ve used HTV on glassware and I’m definitely not done experimenting with it yet.

If you want a more formal looking tablescape, use some HTV on plain fabric napkins and they can be used year after year. I love this kind of speckled holographic vinyl for these St Patricks Day napkins because it looks like a bunch of gold coins piled together. Use any HTV you have on hand or grab some of this cause it’s perfect!

Turn ordinary napkins into a stunning focal point of your table setting. #silhouettecameo #silhouetteamerica #cricuteasypress #htv #ironon #cricut #stpatricksdaycraft #stpatricksdaytable #stpatricksdaypartyI cut this on my new Silhouette Cameo and it was fun using one again after only having a Cricut for a few years. Truth be told, I still like the way my Cricut cuts better but it is nice to have both for comparisons for all of you.

Just cut out the shape and have it mirrored before you cut. I used the Heat Transfer Vinyl, Foil setting and took the blade up to a 4 to cut it smoothly. It was only one pass and weeding it was really easy.

Press using a steamless iron or a Cricut EasyPress. I use it on the lowest heat setting and press firmly for 10 seconds at a time. Turn it over and get a good press for about 5-10 seconds and then remove the carrier sheet. Make your own custom napkins using your Silhouette Cameo and some HTV. That’s it. These St Patricks Day napkins are perfect for a lucky table setting and lucky friends and family.
