How To Cut Your FREE Unicorn SVG File
You’re going to begin by uploading your Unicorn SVG into your electronic cutting machines software.
After you’ve uploaded your Unicorn SVG, you’re going to want to resize it to fit on your child’s shirt. Select cut and you’re going to want to make sure your image is mirrored so that it cuts correctly before applying your HTV to the shirt.
Since this image does not have any writing, it’s ok if you forget. If you did decide to put some text on it and you didn’t mirror it, the text will be pressed backward on your shirt.
How To Cut Holographic Vinyl
Holographic Vinyl is thicker than standard HTV so there are a few tricks to get it to cut cleanly. If you have a Cricut, cutting Holographic Iron-On is fairly easy. Cricut has a setting in Design Space where you will select the Holographic Iron-On and hit cut.
On a Silhouette, cutting Holographic HTV is a little bit trickier. Since Silhouette doesn’t make their own, there really isn’t a setting for it. I chose the Heat Transfer, Metallic setting and my pressure up to 4 and it cut really smoothly.
You do not want to cut completely through the carrier sheet when using your electronic cutter. The carrier sheet is there to protect your image from the heat and it also holds all the small areas in place while you’re pressing.
How to Weed Vinyl
Weeding is the easiest part of making your own shirts but it’s also the most time consuming depending on how many accent pieces you have. You want to keep whatever part of the image you want on your shirt on the carrier sheet. If you accidentally pull up a piece that should have stayed, just set it aside until you’re completely done weeding and then you can stick it back on the carrier sheet before you press your design.
Because the holographic is a material laid on top of the holographic material, they can split a bit while weeding. Just peel slowly and you shouldn’t have any problems.
If you’re going to be using an EasyPress, the heat you want for holographic vinyl is 330F. Preheat your cotton t-shirt for 5 seconds, lay your image down and you’ll press for 30 seconds, flip your material and press again for 15 seconds. You will want to remove the carrier sheet while the vinyl is still warm.
With any shirt you’re making, you want to preheat the fabric because this removes any excess moisture in the fibers and helps the HTV adhere and stay adhered.
Allow your garment to cure for at least 24 hours before washing it. To wash your Unicorn T-Shirt, turn it inside out to wash and I like to hang dry my items to make sure the warmth of the dryer doesn’t cause the HTV to peel up.

For these infant leather moccasins, you’re going to want to use a soft leather. You’re going to cut your vegan leather and animal leather the same way. I like Cricut Leather because it is soft and perfect for those baby toes.
Step One – Lay your leather smooth side down on your Cricut mat. If you find that your leather is grainy or won’t stick to the mat well, lay some transfer tape on the fuzzy side and then apply that side down on your Cricut mat.
You can also use some painters tape or masking tape to hold down the edges of the leather. Cricut recommends using the Strong Grip Mat but I have also used the Standard Grip Mat or the Fabric Grip Mat and it held fine.
When you cut leather with the Cricut Rotary Blade, you get a cleaner cut. The rotary blade isn’t pulling the leather like the Deep Cut Blade would do and so you’re not going to go through materials quickly.
Step Two –Open the Design Space project using this link here or search for it in Design Space.
Move your small white rollers all the way to the right so it doesn’t make a mark on your leather.
Place yourCricut Rotary Blade into your Adaptive Tool System and load your mat with the attached leather. Because the Genuine Leather setting does not allow you to choose the Rotary Blade, you’re going to have to adjust some settings.
I chose to edit the material settings for canvas. I just adjusted the force setting to 400 so that it would cut cleanly through. I chose more pressure before I cut as well. This gives an extremely clean cut. If you’re using a desktop computer and you have the knife blade, use that. This is a way that you can kind of jimmy rig your mobile device to cut the leather just as good as the Cricut Knife Blade.
Remove your cut baby shoe pattern from the mat and set aside.
Step Three – Take the fringed back piece and the larger rectangle and sew them right side to the wrong side along the solid leather.
Flip the fringes piece over itself and then create a loop so that the elastic will fit through. Sew about 1/2” from the top of the fringe piece.
Step Four – Take the small fringe piece and the toe piece and sew it on top of each other. You’re going to want to have them laying right side up. Stitch right along the top as close as you can. Then about 1/4″ below that, stitch another straight line. Be sure to reinforce the edges of each stitch.
Step Five – Find the center of the sole of the shoe and the large fringe back piece. Follow along the curve and clip them together in place. Sew a 1/4″ seam along the edges.
Sometimes trying to get the Cricut leather to curve can be difficult. If you need to, just do the sides and then hand stitch the back curve, that works just as well.
Step Six – Take the sole of the shoe and the toe piece and place them right sides together. Start by using a binder clip and place it in the center holding those two pieces together. Then follow along the curve of the toe and begin by stitching the shoes together using a 1/4″ seam.
Step Seven – Turn the shoe right way out and then use a dowel or a bone folder to push the leather seams out to smooth out the shoe.
Take a small safety pin and thread the elastic through the shoe and pull them taught. Sew a zig-zag stitch across both ends together and then clip. Tug at the top of the shoe to try and shimmy the elastic so that the part where they connected is hidden.

How do I upload an SVG file to my computer?
Uploading the SVG file to your computer is really easy. You’re going to want to click on the link above and then you’ll save the SVG file to your computer. Pay attention to where that file has saved. I like to save mine always to my desktop so that I know where I can easily find them. I move them to other folders after I’ve uploaded it into my Cricut or Silhouette software.
If you use an Apple system, your file will automatically unzip when you double-click on the folder. If you have a PC, you’re going to want to find a program that helps you unzip the file. You cannot upload zip folders into the Silhouette or Cricut software.

May the Fourth is a popular obscure holiday to Star Wars fans so I created this modern Star Wars SVG file to make you a DIY Jedi shirt.
I love the straight lines of this design and the fact that I can take this image and really do anything. It doesn’t need to be a shirt. I can make a Reverse Canvas, make my own Doormat, or even make some DIY tattoos with it!
My brother is a huge Star Wars fan and so this DIY Star Wars shirt is cool enough for him to wear or even my 13-year-old son to wear.

Upload your SVG file into your cutting software. I’ve included both SVG and PNG formats of the files so you can trace it or upload it as an image, just whatever method you’re most comfortable using.
Mirror your image and cut and then weed away anything you don’t want on the shirt off of the carrier sheet.
Press your image according to package directions. For Siser EasyWeed or Cricut Everyday Iron-On, I use a temperature of 315 for 25-30 seconds.
Remove the carrier sheet while your image is still warm, turn it over and then press again for an additional 15 seconds.

Making an International Women’s Day craft was kind of a thinker for me. I want my daughter to know that woman can be strong and unapologetic at the same time.
I wanted to make her something that affirmed to her that she should know her worth at all times. Making reverse canvases are extremely low cost and they look great in the end.
I created this easy International Women’s Day SVG file so that you can make it all on your own to remind yourself, your mother or your daughter just how strong they are.
Supplies for your International Women’s Day Craft
12×12” canvas (or whatever you have on hand)
Craft Paint
Foam Brush
Craft Knife
heavy-duty stapler or glue gun
Iron-On (HTV)
Iron or EasyPress
Cricut or Silhouette
FREE International Women’s Day SVG (see below)
Remove the backing of your canvas. I don’t even worry about removing the staples. It’s is too hard for me to do with my fibromyalgia. Just take a craft knife and cut on the outside of the staples.
Just leave the staples in your board. They won’t show and you can glue or staple over them. Paint the wood to how you want it to look. I chose a really light grey that I had used when I made this Buffalo Check Wrapping Paper.
Lay your canvas flat and apply your weeded image. Press for the recommended time. Because I am using foil iron-on, the setting is 285 for 30 seconds and peel away the carrier sheet once your image has cooled.
It’s not extremely important to get your image exactly how you want it on the canvas at this point. You want to get it centered but it doesn’t need to be exactly straight either.
With foil iron-on, the cooler the image is, the better your foil will look. Foil Iron-On tends to wrinkle when it is peeled away using the warm method. I like to at least allow 3 minutes before I even attempt it.
Lay your wooden frame and center your image before you begin to adhere it to the canvas. Hold both the frame and the canvas material together and flip it over.
Begin to staple the canvas material back onto the wooden frame. Start on one side and then work your way around, pulling taught.
Cut away any excess canvas material and then you’re done! It doesn’t need to be perfect on the back because, again, it won’t show.

If you have a Cricut Maker, cutting the felt masks are a lot more precise and cleaner but this can be easily done with the printable templates. I’ve included SVG files for your Cricut Maker or the Printable Template. Cut out your felt masks with either method and then get ready to embellish! I used some glitter on my Gummy Bear masks, white feathers on my Abominable Snowman, Brown Feathers on my Werewolf, and left Slappy as plain felt because he’s already creepy enough. Use some craft glue to adhere your glitter to the areas you want glittered. I just use either a foam brush or paint brush to get an even coat of glue rather than clumps. Just put some on your mask, brush it to even it out and then shake your glitter over it. Set it aside to dry.

Carefully shake your glittered felt masks over a garbage can to catch all that excess glitter.
For the feathers, I wanted them to really stick so I sewed them on my masks. I started on the back portion of the felt masks and then worked my way in, Use the inner piece of your cut felt masks to overlay the back portion and hide the seams. You can easily use a hot glue gun rather than sewing it, I just like to make sure my projects will last.
How do I assemble my felt masks?
When it’s time to do the elastic to hold your mask on, measure around your head and then cut. I usually measure ear to ear and that will give me a secure fit and also it’ll fit my child’s head. Use your sewing machine to sew the elastic on the outer edge of your masks. I use a zig-zag stitch to make sure that it won’t break away. I used some ribbon that I had on hand for my felt masks. I just used some hot glue and adhered it to the back of the masks and allowed it to dry. Don’t feel like you need a sewing machine for your felt masks. Now it’s time to wear it! Enjoy watching Goosebumps 2 for family movie night and everyone enjoying their spooky felt masks. I personally love the Gummy Bear scene in Goosebumps 2 and how they all merge together to make larger ones.

I have loved the versatility that my Cricut Maker has given me and I especially love creating things that I normally would buy but wasn’t the aesthetic I was looking for. I’m able to make my own pretty fast and to me, it’s more practical because I have everything I need here at home.
You’re going to, first of all, need a Cricut Maker. Cricut released their Maker’s in August 2017 at a party that was beyond all parties. They have since been released in a few different colors like blush and blue but my trusty champagne color is perfect and gets the job done.
Begin by securing your 3/32″ basswood to a strong grip mat. I use some painters tape or masking tape to hold it on there securely. When you use the Cricut Knife Blade, you want to be sure that your project will not shift as your cutting. The tape helps prevent that. Next, load in your Cricut mat into the Cricut Maker.
Send your Cricut Design Space file to cut and choose basswood from the menu of materials and then it’ll show you to load your Knife Blade and select go.
Can I use Bluetooth with the Cricut Knife Blade
Yes, but it’s a little tricky. Cricut recommends using the USB cable to hook from a desktop to your Cricut Maker to avoid a call that can interrupt or even a game that can interrupt your cut. This is why the Knife Blade is not available on their mobile app.
I use Bluetooth to my Cricut Maker because my desktop computer is in the hallway and my Maker is in my bedroom and a hassle to move each time. I have only had one issue where it thought my Cricut was done but it was just a long pause so I had unloaded it and it wasn’t cut all the way through.
Don’t think that you cannot ever use Bluetooth with your Cricut Knife Blade, you can but there are risks involved so be aware of that.
What kind of adhesive can I use with Cricut Chipboard and Wood?
You have two choices but you cannot mix the two. You can use a dry adhesive like a Xyron Creative Station or a wet adhesive like Mod Podge. This method is mainly for the Cricut Chipboard but it’s a rule I follow so I don’t ruin other projects.
I prefer to use my Xyron Creative Station with Cricut Chipboard or with any wood cutouts. It won’t leave a sheen or brushstrokes on my project and keep my Cricut cake topper clean.
This really depends on your design. I can cut a circle in a matter of 3 minutes because it has that one line to follow and it doesn’t need to lift up and rotate the blade. My spaceship Cricut cake topper and stars took about 65 minutes.
Because it can take up to 5-6 hours to cut something, this is also why Cricut tells you to use the USB cord. Believe it or not, this cut was pretty fast and so I didn’t need to lug my Maker near my computer to be sure it wouldn’t cancel or shut down on me.
After I cut all the pieces for my wooden Cricut cake topper, I cut the same images out of cute outer space cardstock from My Minds Eye along with some glitter cardstock and orange cardstock for the mini window. Run them through my Xyron Creative Station and began adhering them to the wood.
I used this same method of making the window float as I did on these 3D rockets. Lay the thread on the back of the silver glitter cardstock and then adhered that as my first layer of the wooden Cricut cake topper. Then lay the second layer of the printed cardstock.
For my wooden stars, I did the same thing. Just lay the glitter cardstock over the wooden Cricut cake topper and set it aside.
How to make an Outer Space Cake
You’re going to need an 8″ hemisphere cake pan and any cake mix you like. Bake the cake according to package instructions and then allow it to cool completely.
I then took some black gel food coloring and added a small amount to my white frosting. Frost your cake and then you’re going to want to stick some black candy melts to resemble the craters on the moon.
Place your Cricut Cake Toppers into the cake and serve. What child isn’t going to love this space party?
