Have you ever wanted to create your own Cactus Pumpkins? In this post, I will show you how easy it is with just a few supplies.
This post is all about making homemade Halloween decor with your Cricut Maker and using pumpkins I got from Oriental Trading. These are super simple and can be customized to any colors of your choice.
Using my Cricut Maker has been an awesome tool for all my Halloween crafts. I especially love Malakai's Maui costume, or you can use your Cricut Explore to make these easy Hocus Pocus tombstones.
Supplies for your DIY Cactus Pumpkins
- Cricut Maker or Cricut Explore
- Ceramic Pumpkins
- Three shades of green paint
- Three shades of matching green cardstock
- Two shades of pink cardstock
- Holographic Vinyl
- Spike Cricut File
- Cactus Arms File
- Green Cactus Flower File
- Pink Cactus Flower File
how to paint your pumpkin craft
Begin by painting your pumpkins. I just did random colors on random sizes with foam brushes. While they are drying, create your flowers and spikes in the Cricut Design Space files I linked to above.
I did about 3-4 layers of the green paint on all the pumpkins and I also painted the stems.
how to cut succulents with the cricut Maker
I used hot glue and glue dots to adhere the paper to each other. When cutting, use the intricate cut cardstock setting. This will double-cut the paper and give you a good crisp cut.
Sometimes I did have it cut two times but this is when my mat was starting to lose its stick. When creating the stamens, you’ll begin by rolling the edge that doesn’t have the tab. Once your stamens are rolled, you’ll fold that tab under and secure it with some glue.
To adhere the paper flowers and cactus arms, use hot glue.
how to create your vinyl cactus spikes
For the spikes, cut your file on the holographic vinyl setting and just apply them randomly with your hands. No special tools needed for this easy pumpkin.
These cactus pumpkins are perfect for Halloween and I love how colorful they are. Sometimes Halloween is too black and white so it’s nice to have a different color thrown into the mix.
I’ve also teamed up with other bloggers to show what else you can make with your Cricut Maker and items from Oriental Trading. These two companies are a match made in heaven and the possibilities are endless.

I tried to get the cut files and Design Space said they are saved as Private Files. How can I get the svg’s to make these pumpkins
Lindsay says
Cricut changed up their system. Let me see if I can find a work-a-round.
I was able to save it so everyone can see this file. They changed it when they went offline so I have loads of files to change. Thanks for your patience.
