We all know her and love her charming yellow dress and the way she holds that nostalgic umbrella while the salt falls behind, but did you know that she turned 100 this past summer? I was asked by Mom Select to throw a party in conjunction with 99 other bloggers to celebrate. There was 100 of us in 100 cities to celebrate this fun event. We got a giant Salt can with lots of goodies. My kids tend to grab and go and I couldn't save my umbrella and the M&M's to save my life!
I really just love her in all her glory! My family and I decided to make a family fun night out of it! We had a Mexican Fiesta with quesadillas and beef, chips and salsa, grapes, milk and to top it off we have some Salted Caramel Popcorn from Costco and some Triple Chocolate Cupcakes that I made up myself on the spot and they were delish!
For the cupcakes I used a box mix and made those by the instructions and then made a white chocolate instant pudding and let it set while those were in the oven. When they were cool enough, I piped the pudding on top as ugly as possible and then I piped the store-bought chocolate frosting on top. If that wasn't enough I just added a garnish of chocolate syrup. Of course with this being for Morton Salt, I added bits of extra salt to heighten the flavor of chocolate in each step.
There are a lot of fun things that you can do with Salt! Just use your imagination or check out the Morton Salt Pinterest Page! I had so much fun putting this together and filling our pallets with yummy food to only have it taste better with the perfect amount of salt. That's what it's supposed to do and this iconic figure just makes it that more memorable!
HAPPY 1OOTH BIRTHDAY, MORTON SALT GIRL! #mortonsaltgirl100
